All Diets are Meant to Be Broken

All diets are meant to be broken and I have broken every diet I have ever been on. I became a vegetarian but today I ate herb and lemon chicken, mashed potatoes and gray and green salad and it was wonderful. I'll go back on the vegetarian diet tomorrow. From a cholesterol standpoint, the chicken was roasted on a rotisserie so it wasn't fried. But I ate the skin. Is that as bad as the half of a chocolate bar I ate. Who cares?

  1. Hi Sadie, I just read your post on Kim Brittingham's blog and came here to read more. You are right, diets are meant to be broken. We are human after all and dieting is a paradigm designed by corporate interests who continue to reap the rewards of our so-called failures.

I call myself a recovering vegetarian. After twelve years of meatless eating, huge amounts of anxiety, depression and back pain, I discovered a book called The Vegetarian Myth which blew my mind and changed my life.

The most profound change I have experienced in eating humanely raised, grass-fed, pastured, organic animal products, including saturated fat, is a huge decrease in anxiety and depression. I understand the reasons for wanting to go veg, but I hope you will consider the politically incorrect alternative. I found through my own research that vegetarianism may not live up to the hype.

Check out http://www.westonaprice.org/vegetarianism-and-plant-foods/myths-of-vegetarianism if you're curious to know more. What could it hurt. Undergroundwellness.com is also a great resource. So is marksdailyapple.com. All of these sites illuminate many nutrition myths we've come to accept without question, including ones regarding cholesterol, saturated fat and arthritis.

I am not affiliated with any special interest group and I am not selling anything. My personal experience with food has instilled a deep passion about how misled we've been for so long by the USDA, the pharmaceutical and medical industries. When I saw your post and read about your health issues I wanted to offer my thoughts. It sucks to suffer, to think you're doing everything right and still have health issues.

Please feel free to contact me if you wish to talk further. I hope you'll explore this option. Best of luck in all you do.
